Thanks Nintendo, knowing months in advance the demand for the wii-fit, you think you could have shipped a few more. I love Nintendo, but I do think they under supply thier hardware to artifically increase demand. Its really annoying. Anyone else think this?

Is anyone else sick and tired of every idiot with a guitar and a microphone having their own mypace page? I know the point is for everyone to have a chance to be heard but the music market is oversaturated already so do we really need every whiny adolescent with feelings to be pouring them out on the internet. I propose that in order to have a myspace page you should have the following criteria:

at least a shread of musical talent
at least one live performance before you feel the world is ready to hear you music online
record your music somewhere other than your closet, so your parents don't hear
NOT have a band title along the lines of something like "Dear Tragedy" when you live in the suburbs
NOT have song titles like "no one gets me" or "black heart"

These simple steps should greatly help filter out some of the garbage you must sift through just do get some decent music on myspace. And who will patrol this movement you ask? Lets just say i know a guy.

Too Much Technology?

Is it just me or is it ironic that we are reachable 24/7, but we have less face-to-face interaction than ever before? What happened to human contact? How is this affecting us? What is the effect on the planet of this? (Although, I am going to put this out there, I do not think the use of cell phone’s is the cause of global warming, but I cam concerned with how technology is disposed of). Have we become so efficient at communicating with each other that we have lost touch with social end of communication?

Is all this technology really making us better, or are we losing site of that fact that we are humans and that we are social beings? Facebook and MySpace are no replacements for human interaction, and neither is your cell phone. What happened to people actually spending time together?

Getting Scammer - One More Time - Mobile Providers

What is the deal with the long distance charges on mobile phones? 22 cents a min? Explain to me how this is different then using a land line for long distance? Land lines cost half, if not less. At least there are ways around this. You can always get a phone card, but its kinda a pain to type in 12 digits off the back of the card (espcially if u r driving). Of course you coudl use skype on the phone, but then you get raped on data charges. Ah you just can't win. I kinda complain like a flames fan :)

Stripper pole for Nintendo Wii?

Although Nintendo has yet comment on - if they are even considering it - Peekaboo Pole Dancing, a company that manufactures in home stripper poles (even endorsed by Carmen Electra!). Peekaboo Pole Dancing, wants to release a Nintendo Wii game! Although the details are a little cloudy, the idea would be like Dance Dance Revolution but more along the idea of balancing on the pole for certain lengths of time etc., and clearly targeted towards single females that are looking for a Friday night laugh… with a few bottles of wine. (Hey! I see a cross promotion opportunity!)

Wii is primarily targeted towards kids, but does have a strong adult following as of yet... Now, I’m sure there are a lot of people out there saying “I don’t want my kid learning how to be a stripper in my own living room”. But would the game really be all that bad? Would it be worse if other games out there have an rating? Let’s make a pro’s and con’s list about this (I love making lists J, they bring so much clarity to all kinds of situations!)

Pro’s

· Probably a better way to get your heart rate up then other Wii games.

· The pole dancing game might actually make you a better dancer or at least give you a better sense of rhythm.

· With a pole in your living room, it will be very hard for any kid to buy the game without a parent noticing.

· The game will clearly not have any nudity or stripping in it.

· The game certainly will not create violent tendencies that physiologists and the media love to blame on violent video games such as Grand Theft Auto.

· The game appeals to a large number of the adult Wii gamers.

Con’s

· Some kid might possibly learn how to swing around a pole better.

Oh…. My pro list is 6 times longer than my con list… anyone want to add to my pro and con list?

'Don't Do Evil' Google

Google states “don’t be evil” as their company moto in their investor relations code of conduct. This principle should apply to their employees and users. Not only is Google taking a stab at other like companies with this statement, but it’s really setting the bar for their acts at a very high level. But are they really measuring up to their own claims?

Ok, let’s talk about China.

Amnesty International has stated that Google (among other Search Engines) censors search results to aid the Chinese government with the country’s censorship regulations. Don’t get me wrong, I think everyone can tell that is just the company following the law of the country (whether or not we as Westerners agree with this law is a whole other debate…) , but where is your line guys? You’re saying ‘don’t do evil’ and that you are ‘ A different kind of Company’ in your corporate philosophy, but you’re doing exactly what your competitors are doing, which makes you the exact same kind of company, as well as a coward by not standing to your own ethical boundaries.

I’m not arguing about the Chinese political issue of censoring, (even though I am totally against it like most people), what I am saying to Google is don’t lie to us. If you are uncomfortable with the rules and regulations that the Chinese government allows you to operate within, then hold to your principles and decide not to do business there. Don’t tell us about your high moral and ethical business practices and then tell us that the Chinese government is making you perform you business in uncomfortable ways. You could have always told them NO which would have earned you some respect among your peers and users.

Come on guys! Don’t let outsiders tell you where to draw you line of ethics and then tell us how ‘different’ you are. Give your users and stakeholders some credit.

WTF: Give me WIFI!

One thing that bugs me is the fact that most gadgets u buy these days, don't have WIFI build in out the box. That is SOOOO Lame. It is 2008 For example, cellphones. How hard is it two put a $2 chip in to give it wireless ability? The same goes for stuff that already have wired internet ability and require the internet to work. EG, Slingbox, its very good, but no wireless. So i have to have the slingbox by the tv and the modem! Who does that!. There are alternatives, but they cost more then implementing wireless. PC's and the x360 don;t have wireless out of the box. Why not!. Notebooks do. Many people don;t have their computer by their modem. Wireless is fast and reliable enough now. Companies, stop being so cheap!. Put wireless capabilities in your devices if they need to send/recieve data

Well it looked like I have been shafted again, along with everyone else who uses Rogers. You have to love the markup Rogers has when you use Roaming. $90 for 74 mins of roaming. Over 1 dollar a minute? Why don;t they just take my visa card and go shopping. 50 cents a text message. Oh wait, my mistake, 60 cents a minute. Serioulsly, like WTF. I am sure their costs for a msg using romaing is no more then 1 cent.

Bright and early sunday morning, Dan and I arrived on base. We picked up our flack jackets, signed waivers and death notification documents, you know....dangerous here kicking it with the Canadian Army!! We have already interviewed LCol. Putt who coordinated the whole Prairie Defender Ex. We've also sat down with the guys from Telus to learn about the sat technology they are using to facilitate domestic emergency response. We are just waiting for the girl from CTV to fill out her papers and we will head down to the live fire range!!! I've got my flack jacket, helmet and warm mitts!! Wish me luck!!!

Day 2 - Ex. Prairie Defender

So the thing that I've realized about the army was that things change all the time!! We were supposed to sit in on a tribal meeting this morning...and we did...however b/c there was an elder there (though he was a young good looking man from Afganistan) we were not allowed to film it. I am still working on getting the enemy forces, who are called village people, to do the village people. It was not possible this morning as cultural sensitivuty around the elder came first and formost in our event coverage. I'm hoping to get this footage when i'm embedded with the ops force (opposition forces) on wednesday! So look out...Y M C A!!!

What is Worth it?

WOW. There is so much of it out there. Why do people keep trying to sell it to me? Do I look like I want an iPod cover that is made to look like beef?! No! Why aren’t you making something cool (preferably not looking like a raw steak, and on that note…who buys that anyways?), that is going to make my life easier to share, manage as well as trendy. (In fact, style is one of the most important aspects of technology; has to look cool and/or pretty too… preferably with less cords….or retractable cords! I love those!)

During the last week, I have been doing a lot of searching (no, not soul searching) and I have to say, to find the good products and services that are at a reasonable price, you have to dig…no, back hoe through a bunch of ‘stuff’. (If you haven’t noticed my beef (pun intended) with a particular iPod skin.)

I spend a lot of time on www.bnettv.com looking at these new and emerging products, and they are not all what I would say “good”…. in some instances they are even laughable… Now, don’t get me wrong, there is some interesting stuff out there. (Maybe, not always for me, but I know some people that could probably get a lot of use out of some of these products, for example, I’m not a big video taker, but the Droplet technology looks really good actually).

So this is me on my Soap Box, SCREAMING (not talking…clearly) what is the good stuff? Someone point me in the direction of the cool stuff that we all need! (…or don’t know we want yet!J )

What is the best tech stuff that you can’t live without? And don’t tell me you can’t live without your beefy iPod cover!

Hi fellow members of this community:

We have released a new feature on the vc.bnetTV site - simplified photo uploads. Now you can organize your photos in albums and also upload many pictures at a time (and we are working in a Flash Uploaded that will make things even simpler). Photos uploaded throught this application can be viewed in a large size, and you can also browse another photos in the album using a navigator in the right side of the page. And you don't need to type a lot of information for each photo uploaded. Simple choose the files and you're done.

We are working hard on this feature to make it feel and work good for you all. If you have any suggestions, don't be shy and please post your comments about this feature.

Getting Scammed - Rogers

There are so many scams going on its not even funny. We are all surrounded by them. One of the worst is the data plan with Rogers. For who does not know, Rogers provides an unlimited wap data plan. If I request data from a web site or 3rd party site, I have to pay? Why does it matter if I go to a web site or a wap site? Its still just data. This is just an example of Mobile Providers are greddy. Stop screwing the public!

Before we get into this amazing blog, i think i should introduce myself so you understand my background and opinion.

I am an (almost) fresh out of University female, who loves to be out and 'bout and is really looking for any kind of product that is going to make my life easier to handle (and who isn't!). This specifically includes media and organizing my hectic social life (as I am sure that everyone can under stand! Really, no....REALLY, how did we remember to be places and do things when we didn't program them into our blackberries and google calendars etc. and have them 'remind us' 30Min's before we actually have to be there?) I also tend to take the ' easiest solution' road (more like highway) when it comes to new technology (really, who has time to learn a whole new program just so you can listen to your music on your phone?). Also, I'm young, i don't have buckets of cash stashed in the back of my yellow, Ford Focus hatch back car. I need my technology to work the way it claims to, as well as be affordable for it to make any sense for me to actually be using it.

So here we go... Bring it on Mobivox!

I discovered Mobivox on www.bnettv.com at the Las Vegas Showstoppers show. I have to say, Darren Yaphe (Mobivox Director of Marketing)...where were you all of my University life? The second I heard free between users, and not tied to your computer for Skype anymore I was ready to throw myself at your feet and ask you to be mine! No really, I was. I hate Skype, but I seem to be tied to it. I don't like wearing a wrap-about-your-head-microphone, it messes with my hair, I don't like plugging them into my lap top because I don't like having more cords than I need to have, and I want to make free long distance calls while I'm in transit. I just could not wait to finish my work day and see if what Darren was saying was ACTUALLY true. I signed up, which to his claim was free, and Mobivox gave me my local access number via a text message (nice touch guys! I didn't even have to look it up! I'll give you a thumbs up to appealing to lazy people such as myself!).

So far so good, but because I really want to see if I can call my friend for free, I have to do a bit of work and get her to sign up for Mobivox too, otherwise I may have to pay my what...$0.19/ min to talk to her...instead of the $0.24 from my Canadian cell phone provider charges me?...this is a tough sell guys! I really couldn't wait to try this, even without my Friend having a test run with me first. Voxgirl (Mobivox's delightful voice recognition

operator) greeted me (personally) and asked who I would like to call. I wanted to test what would happen if I put two numbers for the same contact.(i know basic, but that is really something I'm going to need to

use!) Voxgirl was so sweet! She made sure that I contacted my friend's cell phone (because I did call during work hours....) not her home!

I have to say, the whole process was easier than I thought it would be (even though my roommate is still looking for a catch in the whole ' free between user' thing, he still thinks that it is too good to be true). The most difficult thing was to get someone else signed up so we could get our 'free calls'.

A tip of the hat to you at Mobivox! Now all I have to do is get my other 'long distance' friends to sign up too!

Anyone else have any Mobivox opinions? Would you use this service? Will it make your life easier?

Actor Heath Ledger dies at 28

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday of a possible drug overdose in a Lower Manhattan apartment, the New York Police Department said.

The Academy Award-nominated actor was 28.

Ledger was found naked and unresponsive, facedown on the floor at the foot of his bed by a housekeeper trying to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse, said police spokesman Paul Browne.

"Pills were found in the vicinity of the bed," he told CNN.

"This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet."

Browne later told reporters some prescription medications were found in the room, including sleeping pills.

But he stressed police have made no determination of the cause of Ledger's death -- that would be done by the medical examiner.

He said the pills were not "scattered about."

No note was found and there was no indication of foul play, Browne said. Ledger was found at about 3 p.m., and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel about 3:30 p.m.

A crowd of onlookers, photographers and reporters gathered outside the apartment building after news of Ledger's death was reported. Police officers were guarding the doors.

Browne said he did not know how long Ledger had been renting the apartment, which he said took up the entire fourth floor.

An autopsy would be conducted on Wednesday, said Ellen Borakove, spokeswoman for the New York City medical examiner's office.
